Whether in the classroom or on the field, our student athletes know what it takes to work hard. Balancing a full course load with daily practices and away games requires immense time management and dedication. Our track and field, baseball and softball teams have really hit it out of the park this spring and we’re grateful for Tiger Nation’s support in cheering them on.

Dear fathers, grandfathers and father figures, Thank you!
The role you play in the BHAS community does not go unnoticed. You always show up as cheerleaders, teachers and helpers, for your child and their peers. Your partnership is just one of the many ways you strengthen the school community. Happy Father’s Day!

Today is Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, a national holiday celebrating the liberation, resilience and enduring strength of the Black community. In Benton Harbor, we honor the ancestors who paved the way to celebrate the culture and achievements that continue to share our district and our future. As we reflect on the meaning of true freedom, we remain committed to excellence and equity for every student we serve.

As we continue to recognize the Benton Harbor High School Class of 2026, join us in celebrating Salutatorian Keaira Lewis. This distinction is a direct reflection of her hard work, showing up to school, turning in homework and studying hard. She is kind and respectful to all her classmates and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
This fall, Keaira will attend Tuskegee University with plans to major in criminal justice. We are confident Keaira will continue to make Tiger Nation proud and cannot wait to see what she does next.

The best way to spend summer is by balancing relaxation with ongoing learning. We want our students to spend time outside playing and exploring just as much as we want them to spend 20 minutes a day reading. This will ensure that when our students return to the classrooms in the fall their literacy skills remain sharp.
If you’re looking for book recommendations, visit your local library!

Carlton will attend Western Michigan University in the fall, with plans to major in engineering. We wish him luck and look forward to seeing the impact he will continue to make as he embarks on his next chapter. #TigerPride

At Benton Harbor Area Schools, we believe that a peaceful school environment begins with the commitment of our students. We are proud to highlight Peace4Life, a student-led movement dedicated to fostering nonviolence, mutual respect and community responsibility within our halls and neighborhoods. These young advocates are proving that when we commit to the Peace4Life pledge, we create a stronger, safer and more unified Benton Harbor.

Today, June 3, is recognized as the Day of Peace, where we ask our students to take the Peace Pledge and we invite our families and community partners to support this mission. Together, we can ensure that 'Peace Over Everything' remains a daily reality for every Tiger.
