This page will serve as a hub to keep our community stakeholders informed as we embark on a new journey to find the next Superintendent of Benton Harbor Area Schools.

The search is being conducted in partnership with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a nationally respected executive search firm specializing in educational leadership. The BHAS Board of Education and HYA are dedicated to maintaining transparency and community engagement through this process in its entirety.

Candidate Selection
The Board of Education selected six candidates to advance to the first round of interviews.

June 14, 2025 – 10:00 AM
First-Round Interviews and Interim Superintendent Selection
All six candidates will participate in first-round interviews. An Interim Superintendent will be selected to serve during the transition.

June 24, 2025 – 6:00 PM
Finalist Interviews and Public Meet & Greet
Finalist candidates will return for second-round interviews. Community members are invited to attend and provide feedback during the public Meet & Greet.

June 25 – July 7, 2025
Background Checks
A comprehensive background check will be conducted on finalist candidates.

July 8, 2025
Superintendent Selection
The Board anticipates announcing the next Superintendent, pending contract negotiations.
