The Benton Harbor Area Schools Core Curriculum was developed using
the Kent County Collaborative Curriculum Project as a model. In order to
bring about systemic school reform, the curriculum combines the latest
research and development in curriculum design, assessment, alignment,
instruction, and management.
This document integrates national/state standards and benchmarks and
local expectations in creating high performance academic standards to be
achieved by all students in language arts, math, science and social
studies. The core curriculum meets state standards and benchmarks and
addresses the following:
- High expectations for students
- Clarity and focus of instruction
- Alignment of K-12 curriculum
- Expanded learning opportunities for all students.
