Hi, I'm Don Pearson. I
was born and raised in the area and graduated from Benton Harbor High
School. I went away to college in the west, lived there for awhile,
then returned home and began teaching with the Benton Harbor Area Schools.
I've always enjoyed learning. My parents felt that each of their
children should learn as much as they could. My interests are varied
and wide-ranging. Learning about the history and contributions of African
people, and also those made by African-Americans has always been of
importance to me. For many years I taught a course in
African-American history. There is so much that we can learn from
the past.
Two of my daughters attended McCord and are now at Benton Harbor High
School. My third daughter is an eighth grader at McCord, while my
youngest, a son, is still in elementary school.
In addition to history, my interests include music, films, travel and sports. For
many years, I have coached football, basketball, and track.
