I was born in November 1954 to Lucita Andre and Francisque Damus, in Cormiers, village of Grand Riviere du Nord, Haiti. I am part of a large family with five brothers and three sisters.  In 1960, I enrolled for elementary school at the Freres de I'Instruction Chretienne where I graduated in 1968.  Upon graduation I went to College Notre Dame du Perpetuel Secours in Cap Haitien for secondary school until 1978.  In 1980 I moved to Port-au-Prince to start post secondary education at the Institut Adventiste Franco-haitien with concentration in psychology and foreign languages.  In 1984 I arrived in New York where I married in 1985.  From 985 to 1991 I worked at different places such as a textile company in Manhattan for three months.  Then I went to work as a foot messenger for a freight company called Robbins Fleisig Forwarding Company.  I trained to be a billing clerk and worked for the company until 1989.  From 1989 to 1991 I worked as a driver messenger for Four Seasons and for a limousine company.

While in New York I had a chance to co-found a biweekly magazine called Le Phare in 1986 which unfortunately ended publication in 1993.  In the fall of 1991 I moved to Michigan to study at Andrews University. I graduated from Andrews with a double major in foreign languages.  Upon  my graduation I started working for the Benton Harbor Area Schools.  I started at the high school where I spent four tears.  Then I joined the McCord Family in 1998.

I enjoy classical music and jazz.  I like piano so much that I've been teaching myself for the last four years or so.  I do hope that one day I can give a piano recital at McCord.
