Hello, my name is Kristy Cowan! I am the 7th grade special education teacher and also 7th grade volleyball coach at McCord. This is my first year of teaching, however, last winter I did my last semester of student teaching right here at McCord. As soon as my college experience ended I was given a wonderful opportunity to long term sub for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year. I graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1998. I was a member of the varsity basketball, volleyball and softball teams throughout my four years. I love sports and went on to play club volleyball at Grand Valley State University in the fall of 1998. That fall embarked the next five years of my life within the university. I graduated from Grand Valley in April of 2003 with a major in psychology, with an emphasis in special education, and a minor in elementary education. I student taught for two years and from that found that I found out what area and age level I wanted to spend the next thirty years in. I wanted to teach middle school students with emotional impairments and that is exactly what I am doing! I am also excited to be here at McCord. The staff is great and the students are phenomenal! |
