Welcome to Benton Harbor Area Schools!

As a school of choice, our District has several programs to attract students. We offer pre-school for children in our District, as well as full- and half-day kindergarten classes. Our Advanced Placement classes give students a head start on college-level courses, sharpen problem-solving techniques and develop excellent study habits.

We offer magnet programs at the elementary and middle school level. The Montessori Program is open to K-6, The Creative Arts Academy with an emphasis on fine arts is open to grades K-5, the Gifted and Talented Academy is open to grades 3-5, and the Renaissance Center, specializing in Fine Arts and SciMaTech Academy, specializing in Science, Math and Technology is open to grades 6-8 when fully deployed. We have brochures detailing each of these special programs.

Our schools are well defined by the numerous activities available to students after school. We believe student activity programs are not a diversion, but an extension of a good educational program.

Benton Harbor Area Schools is known for the Tiger Marching Band, a high-stepping musical team that brings home competitive titles nearly every year.

In 2005, our own Wilson Chandler was named Michigan’s Mr. Basketball. Home and away games during the season were sold out in advance as Benton Harbor fought for the state title.

Our fine arts activity program boasts The Madrigals, a complex harmonies choir that takes great pride in each and every performance.

Our District continues to improve every year. In achieving excellence, we strive to maintain a consistent focus on student achievement, demonstrating the District’s top priority now and in the future.

We invite you to read our literature and visit our schools. Simply call our administration office at 269-605-1010 to schedule a tour. We would be happy to assist you and answer any questions.
