STUDENTS/AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
It is the Board's desire
that students be recognized for their individual achievements in the
areas of academic achievement, attendance, and good citizenship. The
Superintendent or designee shall develop rules and regulations
regarding the criteria for these three awards that shall be used
consistently in every building in the district.
Each building administrator shall provide the
opportunity for one student to be recognized at each grade level as
"Student of the Month" in at least six months of the year. The
Superintendent or designee shall develop rules and regulations

in every building in the district. The "Student of the Month" shall be
recognized with a picture display in each school building, a
certificate shall be awarded to the student, and a letter shall be
sent to the parents informing them of the student's achievement. In
April of each year, each building administrator shall select one
"Student of the Year" for each grade from the monthly recipients and
these individual students shall be recognized by the Board at the
regular May Board meeting with a certificate.
Those students that have received an award for
individual achievement while representing the district shall be
recognized by the Board at a regular meeting with a certificate.
Building administrators shall provide this information to the
Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in a timely manner.
Those organizations and individuals that desire to
award scholarships to twelfth grade students shall provide written
information as to the criteria for the award and the amount of the
scholarship to the high school principal by February of each year so
that students can be informed of the opportunity. In May of each year,
a Senior Awards Program shall be held at the high school and all
recipients of these scholarships shall be recognized. Donors shall be
contacted in a timely manner so they may have the opportunity to
present the scholarships to the recipients.
