ORGANIZING AND SPONSORING DEMONSTRATIONS AND/OR MEETINGS "Uniform Code
of Discipline...."
Any student who while at school or at school-sponsored activities
incites, encourages, promotes, or participates in a riot, a sit-in, a
walk-out, a blockage of entrances, a trespass violation, or otherwise
substantially or materially interferes with normal education processes
may be suspended or expelled from school and may be charged with
violating any applicable municipal, state, and/or federal laws.
Any student who wishes to promote, organize, or
participate in a demonstration or meeting on school premises, other
than those sponsored by the school, must obtain prior approval from
the principal. Before approving such a request, the principal should
determine that the demonstration or meeting will be orderly and
peaceful and will not interfere with the rights of others or
substantially and materially disrupt the educational process. Any
student who is denied such request may appeal the adverse decision in
writing to the principal who shall render his/her decision within one
(1) school day after the appeal is filed. If the principal denies the
request, the student may appeal the adverse decision in writing to the
Superintendent or designee who shall render a decision within one (1)
school day after the appeal is received. The principal or the
Superintendent or designee may and should make any investigations
necessary, which may include hearings, to make the determination
required by this policy.
Any student who assaults or injures an employee or
student of a school district, will be suspended from school and may be
recommended for expulsion. Such a student may be charged with
violating applicable municipal, state, and/or federal laws.
