DRESS AND GROOMING CODE "Uniform Code of Discipline"
School personnel are responsible for the health and safety of each student while at school and for the preservation of an atmosphere which is conducive to learning.  Students are expected and required to maintain a standard of personal appearance which is clean, neat, reasonable, and not disruptive to the learning environment.  Effective at the start of the 2003-2004 school year and prior to October 1st of each year it shall be mandatory for all students to wear student uniforms during the regular school day.  The educational divisions shall consist of grades, Elementary (K-5), exception is Boynton Montessori Program (K-6), Middle (6-8), and High School (9-12).  The colors and styles of uniforms for each educational division was determined by the Superintendent’s Advisory Council.  Uniforms selected by the Superintendent or designee shall be based upon safety and health considerations and upon a concern for promoting the educational activities within the respective schools.

It is expressly understood that no hats are to be worn in the school buildings during the school day.  Clothing should be size appropriate for the individual and shirttails should be worn inside one’s pants or skirt.

The principal or designee has full authority to take prudent action to enforce this policy.  The principal will attempt to resolve the violations of the policy by holding a conference with the student involved.  If this conference does not bring about the desired change, the principal or designee may suspend the student to ISS pending a conference with the parents or guardian.

The Superintendent shall develop rules and regulations for the enforcement of this policy.
