SMOKING IN THE SCHOOLS "Uniform Code of Discipline...."
No student shall
be allowed to smoke in district buildings, school vehicles, or on the
school premises at any time.
The Youth Tobacco Act (MCL 722.641 et seq.)
prohibits any person from selling, giving, or furnishing any
cigarette, cigar, chewing tobacco, tobacco snuff, or tobacco in any
other form to a person under eighteen (18) years of age. Further, it
prohibits a person under eighteen (18) years of age from possessing or
smoking cigarettes or cigars, possessing or using tobacco in any other
form on a public highway, street, alley, park, or other lands used for
public purposes or in a public place of business or amusement. No
student shall be permitted to violate the provisions of the Youth
Tobacco Act on school premises or while attending or participating in
school activities at any time. Students violating the prohibitions of
this section shall be subject to suspension and/or expulsion.
