Board Policy JCABA-R : ELECTRONIC/COMMUNICATION DEVICES/ RULES & REGULATIONS

No student shall be allowed or permitted to carry or possess a pocket pager, digital media play, earphones, laser pointer or other electronic/communication device (E/CD), while in school, at a school sponsored function or enroute to or from school in transportation provided by the District.

If a student is using an E/CD, it will be confiscated:

1. The District will hold all digital media players that are confiscated until the end of the semester and they will be returned upon payment of the $20 retrieval fine.
2. All other Electronic/Communication Devices:
   • First offense
     The student may retrieve the E/CD, after administrative parental notification, upon payment of the $20 retrieval fine at the end of the day.
   • Second offense
     The E/CD may only be retrieved by the parent/guardian upon payment of a $25 retrieval fine
   • Third offense
     There will be an administrative conference with the parent, and then the E/CD may be retrieved upon payment of a $30 retrieval fine.
   • Fourth and subsequent offense
     The E/CD will be held until the end of the year and the parent/guardian may retrieve upon payment of a $50 retrieval fine.
