ADULT
EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The district shall seek to meet
the needs of adults who, for whatever reason, have been unable to
secure a high school diploma in a regular school program, or who need
additional training to become more efficient in their chosen
occupations.
Adult programs in the district shall include:

The Accredited Adult
High School Completion Program (AAHSCP) this program provides an
opportunity for adults to earn a high school diploma. To be eligible
for AAHSCP, the student shall:
- be 18 years of age or older, and not a high
school graduate;
- have received permission from the high school
principal, if under the age of 18; and
- receive a preliminary evaluation of credits by
the Director of Adult Education or designee.

The Adult Basic
Education Program (ABEP) - this program provides instruction in the
fundamentals of mathematics, spelling, grammar, and reading.
To be eligible for ABEP, the student shall:
- be 18 years of age or older, and not a high
school graduate; and
- receive a preliminary evaluation of credits by
the Director of Adult Education or designee.

The General Education
Development Program (GEDP) this program prepares students to earn
high school equivalency certificates issued by the State Department
of Education. The district shall maintain authorized G.E.D. testing
centers sponsored by the General Education Testing Service of the
American Council of Education. To be eligible for GEDP, the student
shall:
- be 18 years of age or older, and not a high
school graduate
- receive a preliminary evaluation of credits by
the Director of Adult Education or designee
- enroll in this program after the graduation of
his/her high school class.
