PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL HIRING
The Board shall approve all professional personnel positions in the school district before they are posted. All professional personnel shall be hired by the Board.

Candidates shall be considered on their merits and demonstrated effectiveness as professionals, without regard to race, color, creed, weight, height, religion, sex, age, marital status, national origin, veteran status, or disability.

All applicants shall submit a formal written application to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations that includes three professional and personal references. It is the responsibility of all applicants for any posted vacancy to verify that their transcripts and credentials are current and make provisions for this information to be provided to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations prior to their being interviewed. From these applications, the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations shall select qualified candidates for interview after verifying references and credentials. The Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations, as chairman, shall convene an interview panel which shall consist of at least two teachers and those administrators who shall supervise the vacant position. Potential candidates shall be required to demonstrate their ability to manage a classroom and their grasp of the subject matter by preparing a lesson plan and teaching a lesson to students in a classroom. The interview panel shall then review all of the material and make a recommendation to the Superintendent. As a precondition of employment, the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations shall arrange for background security checks and physical examinations for those candidates who have been recommended for hire.

The Superintendent, after reviewing recommendations and references provided by the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations and after considering all acquired information, shall select a candidate for recommendation to the Board.
