MEDICAL
TREATMENT AND MEDICAL CONTROL PROCEDURES
WORKERS' COMPENSATION ACT (ON-THE-JOB INJURIES)
RULES AND REGULATIONS
In order for the district to be in compliance with the
Workers' Compensation Act, the following procedures and policies shall
be implemented for compliance with the act and as a matter of
information:
-
The district is obligated to provide reasonable
medical, surgical, hospital services, and medicine to any employee who
receives a personal injury arising out of and in the course of
employment with the district.
-
The district will maintain a list of doctors in the
Human Resources Department who will initially provide these services,
except in emergencies which require hospital treatment. (In case of an
emergency, injured employees can obtain treatment at a hospital
emergency room.)
-
Any employee making a claim for an on-the-job injury
shall first obtain authority for treatment with the list of doctors
from their supervisor.
-
Ten days from the date that the employee first sees a
doctor from the list, or uses a hospital facility, an employee may be
treated by an authorized health care provider of their choice, at
their own expense, unless authorized in advance.
-
If an employee is treated by the employee’s own
physician, said employee shall be responsible for having the physician
provide the district and/or insurance agent with a medical report
outlining the history, diagnosis, length of disability, and an opinion
on the casual relationship between the disability and the claimed
injury.
-
The district and/or its insurance agent has the right
to arrange a special medical evaluation when necessary by giving the
employee notice (by certified mail) of the date, time, and place of
said examination.
-
If an employee is treated by a health care provider of
the employee’s choice the district and/or its insurance agent will
not guarantee payment, but will review each case on its’ specifics,
according to the facts.
-
The district is committed to providing prompt,
competent medical services to maintain the health of all district
employees.
