TECHNOLOGY POLICY
Our world has become increasingly
characterized by the use of computers and other technologies that affect
many facets of our personal and professional lives. Students are
growing up in a society more oriented toward technology, service, and
information. They must learn about the role of computers and technology
that are common in schools, homes, and the workplace.
The Board of Education
recognizes its responsibility as providing students with opportunities
and appropriate hands-on experiences so that all students; regardless of
their socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, or general level of
academic achievement can acquire knowledge about computers and other
forms of technology, and their significance in society. The Board is
financially committed to provide students with the necessary means to
obtain this knowledge. These opportunities are best realized when
technology is viewed as an essential component of curriculum and
instruction. Therefore, technology usage will be integrated into the
entire curriculum. This will provide opportunities for students of
varying abilities to gain knowledge and skills about technology, its
applications and limitations, and uses as learning tools.
The Board of Education
recognizes the potential of the computer and other forms of technology
as instructional and administrative tools. Staff members are encouraged
to become familiar with future advances and implications of technology
and its applications. The Board is committed to provide the necessary
training for staff to use technology to better manage and enhance
classroom instruction and develop new curricula and approaches to
learning.
