The Board shall approve the type of lunch to be
provided and the prices for standard
lunches and milk for students and adults.
The Board may provide for a contracted lunch program
or it may engage in the business directly. If a contracted lunch program
is utilized, a system for regular reviews by the Board shall be
implemented. Student food service committees shall be formed in all
secondary buildings for input and feed back on the food service program.
Studies and experience have shown the benefits of
breakfast programs for our students and it is the Board's desire that
such programs be implemented if funds are available. Sack lunches may be
served in district buildings on days that schools are in session less
than full-time. As it is the primary purpose of the district to provide
instruction to students, it is the Board's intent that food service
programs do not interfere with instructional time in the classrooms.
The district's food services program shall be operated
in such a way as to qualify for the maximum applicable reimbursement
under the rules and regulations of the federal and state Departments of
Education.
