EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES MANAGEMENT/
AUTHORIZED USES LEARNING RESOURCES/
COMPUTER AND AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT

District-owned learning resources located in the film library, Audio-Visual Center, Professional Library Media Center, and school buildings are primarily for the use of students and staff. Residents of the district may be allowed to borrow learning resources at the discretion of the principal or program administrator. In the event that a learning resource is not returned or returned in a damaged condition, the borrower shall be responsible for the replacement cost of the learning resource.

District-owned computers and audio-visual equipment may be used free of charge by students and staff. Students may use computers before and after regular school hours when supervised by an employee or an approved agent of the principal or program administrator. Teachers and district sponsored individuals may use the computers and audio-visual equipment for school-related business and/or activities that benefit the instructional programs or operating efficiency of the district. The computers may be used for district sponsored inservice programs for staff, parents, and students; summer development courses; or curriculum and policy development activities.

Conditions of Loan:

  1. All users of district-owned computer and audio-visual equipment are responsible financially for any damage to, or loss of the equipment while in their care.
  2. District-owned computer and audio-visual equipment may not be used for any commercial purposes, personal gain, or profit by the individual borrowing the equipment.
  3. The principal or program administrator must give written approval for the loan and send copies of that approval to the Superintendent or designee.
  4. The staff member or district sponsored individual must furnish a copy of their individual home owners policy to the Superintendent or designee to protect the district in case of fire, theft, vandalism, or damage to the equipment.
  5. The principal or program administrator must make a record of the equipment that is borrowed that includes the name, address, and phone number of the borrower; purpose for borrowing the equipment; date the equipment was borrowed; description of the equipment; serial numbers; condition of the equipment; location of the equipment; and anticipated date of return. This record shall be retained by the principal or program administrator and a copy shall be furnished to the purchasing Agent, who is responsible for keeping an inventory of all district supplies and equipment.
NOTE: The district's insurance coverage does not cover any loss or damage to school owned learning resources, computers, or audio visual equipment while it is outside the immediate control of the principal or program administrator, except in the case of unavoidable circumstances as may be determined by the Coordinator of Public Service.
