SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS SAFETY INSPECTIONS
The Board desires that all school buildings and grounds be maintained in a safe condition for students and staff at all times.  The Superintendent or designee shall institute and monitor a plan that will provide for annual safety inspections of all district buildings and grounds.

The Board's Operations and Facilities Committee shall conduct an annual tour of all district buildings and grounds in August of each year and provide a report to the Board. Building administrators shall be responsible for providing the Group Director of Operations and Facilities with an annual report regarding the physical condition of their buildings in the spring of each year.

The Group Director of Operations and Facilities shall provide assistance to all state officials in their inspections of boilers, local fire departments in their annual fire inspections, and incidental checks by the district's insurance carrier.

Building administrators and the Coordinator of Maintenance shall be continuously responsible for the identification of safety hazards for students and staff.  Those hazards that cannot be immediately corrected shall be reported to the Group Director of Operations and Facilities so that a plan can be developed for correcting the hazard in a timely manner.

The Board intends that the district remain in compliance with the guidelines established by the "Environmental Protection Agency" that relate to schools in the areas of asbestos, radon, lead in drinking water, and all other potential health risks to students.  Towards this end, the Board directs the Superintendent to identify an individual who shall be responsible for remaining abreast of these guidelines and making future reports and recommendations to the Board.
