ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL RESIGNATION
An administrator who plans to resign shall notify the Superintendent or designee as far in advance as possible, so that a suitable replacement may be found without placing undue hardship on the students or on other district employees. The Board shall accept any administrator's resignation for the ensuing school year when it is presented in writing prior to May 1 of the current year.

The Board considers a contract with an administrator to be a mutually binding agreement which is to be executed both in spirit and in fact. Requests to be released from such contracts are not encouraged.

All requests by an administrator regarding an early contractual release shall be subject to approval by the Board. The administrator shall submit a written request at least twenty working days prior to the anticipated termination date. The release from the contract shall be dependent on the circumstances involved, including the availability of a qualified replacement.

The Board has the option to accept or reject the resignation of any administrator that is submitted after May 1 of any given school year. Administrators who leave the district under terms that are not mutually agreeable shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including dismissal and a recommendation to the Michigan Department of Education that the employee's certificate be revoked. It shall be the policy of the district to not provide letters of recommendation for that employee and to place an informational letter in the personnel file of the employee.

Once a resignation is tendered and accepted by the Board, that resignation shall be considered final unless its withdrawal is requested and approved by the Board.
