ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL POSITIONS
All administrative and supervisory positions in the district shall be established by the Board.

When the Superintendent determines there is a need to create a new administrative or supervisory position in the District, the Superintendent or designee shall provide the Board with: a recommendation for job qualifications and requirements for the proposed position; a written job description for the proposed position; a proposed salary for a management team member (or a responsibility factor for any position represented by the Benton Harbor Administrators Association, which has been discussed with the association); and funding sources for the position.

The Board shall approve the broad purpose and function of the position in accordance with state laws and regulations. Job qualifications shall include the ability to obtain State of Michigan administrative requirements, if applicable.

After Board approval and discussion with the Superintendent, the Superintendent or designee shall publish a posting for the vacancy in each school and central office building in the District that shall include the job qualifications and requirements that have been approved by the Board.

The Superintendent or designee shall maintain a comprehensive and coordinated set of administrative job descriptions for every administrative position that sets forth clear-cut responsibilities so as to promote harmony and efficiency in the operation of the District. All job descriptions shall be reviewed by the Board Personnel Committee on at least a biannual basis.

Although positions may remain temporarily unfilled, only the Board may abolish a position it has created.
