SCHOOL BOARD COMMITTEES
The function of all committees shall be deliberative, fact- finding, and/or advisory rather than legislative or administrative, except where otherwise ordered by the Board. The Superintendent or a designee of the Superintendent shall attend all committee meetings and provide the necessary information requested by the chairperson of the respective committee.

Recommendations of all School Board Committees shall be made directly to the Board, which alone may take action or establish policy.

The President shall appoint three members to each committee, one of which shall be named chairperson by the President. School Board Committees shall receive the information regarding Board policy relative to the purpose for which the committee is established. The President shall consult with the Superintendent prior to convening or referring issues to the respective committees, otherwise all matters referred to committee must be done by unanimous consent of members present at a Board meeting. A report from each committee, will be submitted to the Board by the chairperson following discussion by the committee.

The Superintendent may invite individuals, staff, and/or appropriate legal counsel to provide information requested by any duly convened committee.

The following committee will be established:

  • Operations/Facilities
  • Instruction/Curriculum
  • Budget/Finance
  • Policy/Discipline Code
  • Litigation/Human Resources
  • Community/Public Relations

Once a committee files its written findings or recommendations with the Board, the activities of said committee shall be suspended unless reconvened by the Board.  All committee meetings shall be closed to the public, unless otherwise specified.
