SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
The Board shall designate specific school
holidays in connection with its approval of the school calendar.
Under law, the following shall be among days
that school shall not be in session: January 1st (New Year's Day); the
third Monday of January (Dr.Martin L. King Day); the third Monday of
February (President's Day); the last Monday of May (Memorial Day); July
4th (Independence Day); the first Monday in September (Labor Day); the
last Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day); and December 25th (Christmas
Day).
In addition, the law specifies that if a
legally designated public holiday falls on Sunday, the Monday following
shall be a public holiday in the public schools.
