SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER UNEXPIRED TERM FULFILLMENT
Upon written notification, the Board shall act on the resignation of any Board member and announce the vacancy to the public. The Board shall request that any legally qualified person who is interested in filling the vacancy inform the Board of their interest by writing a letter to the Board. The letter of interest, which should include qualifications for the position, shall be sent to the Board's recording secretary (Superintendent's Secretary) within ten (10) days of the announcement of the vacancy. If a person desires that their interest remain confidential, they must request a closed session with the Board for their interview. The Board shall then conduct interviews with all interested candidates and consider their qualifications for the position.

Vacancies in the membership of the Board shall be filled within twenty (20) days by a legally qualified person appointed by a vote of the remaining members of the Board. The person thus selected shall file an acceptance with the Board Secretary within ten (10) days of notification of the appointment, and shall serve until the next annual election, when the vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.

NOTE: Section 380.1104 of the General School Laws provides means for the filling of such vacancy if the Board does not act within 20 days or if a majority of the offices are vacant at the same time.
